Tom D’Arcy and Erik Heyland, the principals of Bayside Realty Partners, have over 35 years of combined real estate experience in both the private and public sectors. Their areas of expertise include real estate acquisitions, development, engineering, financing, operations and management.

Tom D'Arcy

Tom is a career real estate and finance executive with an extensive background in investing, capital markets, investor relations, property acquisition and development. Tom started in the real estate business in 1983 in the leasing, management and financing of office and retail buildings in Boston. Throughout the 90s, he was Chairman and CEO of Bradley Real Estate, a $1 billion-asset, NYSE listed Real Estate Investment Trust. In his capacity as CEO of Bradley, Tom’s responsibilities included all aspects of corporate strategy, operations and performance. During his tenure at Bradley, Tom directed the asset growth from $125 million to $1 billion, expanding the asset base from thirteen properties to ninety-eight properties. Most recently, Tom was President of Equity Investment Group, a private retail real estate company located in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he managed a $700 million portfolio and assisted the company with its financing needs. Upon his return home to New England in 2004, Tom joined with Erik to form Bayside Realty Partners with the goal of utilizing their extensive real estate backgrounds to build a multi-faceted company to invest in New England. Tom is a 1983 graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. He holds his Real Estate Broker’s license in both Massachusetts and Maine and is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute and the Building Owners Management Association.

 

Erik Heyland

Erik is the founder of Engineering Alliance, Inc. (EAI), a land planning firm that provides professional land planning and engineering services in both commercial and residential markets.  He has over 15 years of experience in land use permitting including site engineering, surveying, and design and planning for land development projects and is fully capable of providing a complete project in all aspects from the initial concept to final construction.  In addition, Erik has extensive experience working with approving agencies to obtain permits for projects that have environmental challenges, such as wetlands permits, Army Corp. of Engineers permits, Department of Environmental Protection permits, Planning Board and Board of Appeals permits, Board of Health permits, and Coastal and Flood Plain permits, enabling projects to be environmentally compatible. Erik is a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut.

Erik has also been building quality residential developments and custom single-family homes in New England for over eight years.  His goal on all projects is to engineer, permit and build projects without the typical problems that are often encountered by other developers and builders because of a lack of experience in the process.  This concept and unquestionable work ethic has proven to be a valuable formula for his success.
